Top Ten Reasons This Blog Is Called Birdy Words

1. When I was a little kid, my favorite song was Yellow Bird.

2. I always thought Lady Bird Johnson was a cool name, and she was the first lady when I was growing up.

3. One of the first stories I remember writing was about two birds on a telephone wire. I named them Simon and Reynard.

4. My mom and dad used to yell about the dang starlings in the yard and garden. I thought they were pretty birds.

5. I always waited on the first robin of Spring to show up.

6. On my last day working for corporate America, I bought a glass Bluebird of Happiness.

7. When my boys were younger, they used to call out hey pigeon, hey pigeon, to the birds in the park.

8. When they saw the ducks down by the river they called out hey water pigeons!

9.  I tend to use a lot of bird imagery in my poetry.

10. I have to call this blog something, don't I? And Birdy Words is such a fun name.

A NEW BLOG

I am ending the year, by starting a new blog, one that celebrates the fun, the discovery, the joy of writing --- not the angst, the hand wringing, the teeth grinding, the mail carrier stalking.

Some of you know me as Kay. Some of you know me as Lill. I've decided to call this blog Birdy Words, because it's a favorite handle that I once used on a children's writers' message board.

So let us see what the future brings as one year melts into the other.
